In the Rajya Sabha, there was a written reply where it was mentioned that the reserved category candidates’ vacant posts are not maintained centrally. This is because the concerned recruitment companies or agencies assign a team of controlling authorities to carry out the recruitment process.

On Thursday, the government said, ‘There are 6,955 backlog vacancies in different central government organisations for people belonging to Scheduled Tribes.’ In the Rajya Sabha, there was a written reply where it was mentioned that while the reserved category candidates’ vacant posts are not maintained centrally, however, the process of filling the backlog reserved vacancies for (ST) Scheduled Tribes, (SC) Scheduled Castes and (OBCs) Other Backward Classes is monitored by the Department of Personnel and Training. There are much more than 90 per cent of employees in the central government and have ten departments/ministries.

These ten departments/ministries have provided some information. This information includes their financial institutions, public sector banks, central public sector undertakings for backlog vacancies of 22,829 for (ST) Scheduled Tribes out of which around 15,874 backlog vacancies were filled during the from April 2012 to December 2016.
